Summer 2025 Update
Our winemakers tending to and planting Malbec vines.
A Summer Letter from our Winemakers:
As the days grow longer and the promise of summer fills the air, we eagerly anticipate another spectacular season at Lake Tahoe! For us at the winery, the approaching warmth signals a crucial period of nurturing our vines – a time dedicated to careful monitoring, meticulous tending, and fostering robust growth in our vineyard. This summer will also find us venturing out to connect with our partner vineyards and vintners, tasting their exceptional fruit and ensuring the continued excellence of our winemaking process.
We are particularly thrilled about the prospects of our estate vineyard this year, with hopes high for a bountiful harvest that will allow us to craft our very first estate-grown varietal. This milestone represents a significant step for us, and we can't wait to share the fruits (pun intended!) of our labor with you.
Meanwhile, our new location in Cedar Ridge is currently a vibrant spectacle, bursting with the colors and fragrances of countless blooming flowers. It's a truly delightful sight and a welcoming space that we hope you'll have the opportunity to visit soon.
Our May Release is a fun and vibrant collection of summer favorites, and new limited releases! We hope you enjoy this spectacular pairing.
Cheers to Spring!

2021 Dutch Flat Sierra Foothills Barbera
Experience the vibrant taste of our Sierra Foothills Barbera. Ripe raspberry and black cherry lead the way, intertwined with hints of star anise and vanilla. Earthy notes and bold tannins create a dry, structured palate, culminating in a surprisingly smooth finish. A captivating red that's both robust and elegant.
About the vineyard: High up, at 3,265 feet, our Dutch Flat vineyard clings to the slopes, one of California's true mountain vineyards. This isn't just any vineyard; it's a testament to the rugged spirit of the Gold Rush, planted in the very soil that once fueled fortunes in the historic town of Dutch Flat. Here, the elements reign supreme. The elevation throws down a challenge, testing the vines with every gust of wind and shift in temperature. It's a singular place, where the grapes struggle and thrive, drawing their distinct character from the raw, unyielding land. The wine that emerges is a reflection of this place—honest, untamed, and deeply connected to the mountain. It's a taste of the real California, a story etched in every sip.
2024 White Barn Pinot Grigio
Aromas of pears and sliced apples are accompanied by hints of lime and grapefruit blossom. The palate is bright with flavors of white peach and lime, finishing crisp and cleanly with rounded acidity.
From the Steven Gribaudo Vineyards in Acampo Lodi AVA to “the highest and coldest winery” where winemaker Katy Carroll Jones performed an ultra cold fermentation using the natural cold sierra temperatures to achieve a well balanced, fruit forward wine with great structure.
10% of our proceeds from this wine go to Truckee/Tahoe Local Charities.
2019 174 Cabernet Sauvignon
Your essential barbeque companion! This luxurious wine featuring notes of new leather, ripe bell pepper, and cracked black pepper. It offers a rich palate of aprium, blackberry, and violet, culminating in a powerful finish of black currant, cassis, and licorice. Ideal for savoring by the fire.
Its intriguing bouquet unfolds with subtle notes of supple new leather, sun-kissed ripe bell pepper, and a tantalizing whisper of cracked black pepper. On the palate, a velvety tapestry of rich aprium, deeply concentrated blackberry, and ethereal violet gracefully unfolds, creating a truly sensory experience. The finish is both powerful and pristine, leaving a lingering impression of vibrant black currant, intense cassis, and a delicate, lingering licorice nuance. This is a wine to be savored, a perfect companion for a fireside evening.
2021 Dutch Flat Sierra Foothills Sangiovese
Nestled in the historic heights of Dutch Flat, the vineyard, established in the early 1900s by a Truckee visionary, offers a truly singular wine experience. As the only vineyard in this storied locale, they cultivate Chardonnay, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Barbera grapes, each reflecting the distinct character of our high-altitude terroir.
Enjoy the lively taste of our Dutch Flat Sangiovese. Bright red plum and a splash of blood orange dance with zesty acidity on the front palate, while hints of violet and leather bring out the middle. A whisper of smoky nuances and light oak round out the finish, making this a smooth, easy-drinking red you'll want to share.

A Spring Letter from our Winemakers:
Spring is almost here, bringing with it renewed life, warmth, and of course, new wines. Warmer weather means it's time for bottling our latest vintages, another successful bud break at our one-acre vineyard, and springtime gatherings.
We've had a relatively mild winter in Truckee, with a few great storms interspersed with clear, warm days perfect for enjoying wine by the fireside. We were fortunate to savor wine both indoors and out, enjoying cozy days by the fireplace and invigorating hikes with our four dogs. Spring promises even warmer weather, the blooming of our small tulip patch, and more opportunities for outdoor wine tasting.
Our March release features the first wine from a unique vineyard location in Dutch Flat – our 2021 174 Chardonnay. This small town in the high Sierra Foothills, once one of the richest gold mining locations in California, boasts the highest elevation vineyard on I-80. Our oaked Chardonnay is steeped in both history and flavor.
Paired with our newly released 2019 Malbec and a limited production 2018 Best Man Pinot Noir, all three will compliment fantastically with all your Spring and Easter Celebrations.
We look forward to seeing you more often as the weather warms and the days lengthen.
Cheers to Spring!

Our limited production Dutch Flat wine is being showcased in our March Selection.
Discover the elegance of Dutch Flat oaked Chardonnay, a wine that balances richness and freshness. It offers aromas of ripe apple of vanilla, along with a creamy texture from oak aging. On the palate, enjoy citrus and stone fruit flavors with a touch of toasty oak.

2019 Chalk Hill Malbec
Coming from the Chalk Hill AVA in Sonoma county, this wine is aged for 3 years in 50% American and 50% French oak. This is a full bodied wine with a deep purple hue. There are aromas of cedar box, violets and leather, spiced blackberry and toasted oak flavors. Pairs well with heavy lamb dishes, osso bucco, pork chops and fun winter items. It is a truly hedonistic wine.
Tasting notes
Our Malbec is characteristically vibrant, fruit-forward, and full-bodied. It reflects the altitude of the Chalk Hill region. The nose is intense with cedar box, violets and leather.
On the palate, the wine is mellow with supple tannins that flow easily from front to back. Cherry, chocolate, and some floral notes of geranium and morning glory, dominate the flavor profile of this wine. The finish is characteristic of Malbec and comes across with toasty oak blended with fresh ripe berries and spices.
With 14.7% alcohol by volume, this wine is very balanced and has enough alcohol to volatilize the aromas. This malbec is perfect to drink now but will age beautifully through 2022. We recommend decanting this wine for for 30 minutes before serving.
2018 Best Man Pinot Noir
This ruby-hued wine begins with delicate vanilla aromas that lead into bright red cherry tones and hints of chocolate and sea breeze. On the palate, raspberry and black cherry flavors mingle with cedar box and cassis. These are supported by soft tannins and well-structured minerality.
A wine created for all special occasions or simply a fantastic dinner. Enjoy now or lay down for up to 10 years.
Tasting notes
Medium ruby and deep purple hue with full aromas of cassis and sweet spice with a hint of fresh earth. The palate is rich, nearly full-bodied, with ripe black fruit, subtle spice and vanilla. Toasted oak, leather, and dark cherry is sustained on the midpalate. The finish is complex with balanced acidity and mouth-filling tannins that balance the generous fruit intensity of this wine nicely.
Production notes
The 2018 Best Man Pinot is a extended labor of love from the same source as our traditional Pinot Noir. The grapes are from the famous Tondre Grapefield, like our traditional Pinot Noir, but these are hand chosen by the winemaker Russ Jones. We cold soak for a week in Truckee's high altitude chill, slow fermenting with a wild yeast fermentation and let the wine sit with its skins for 2 weeks. This wine is then barrel aged for almost 3 years before bottling.
This is a unique and refined Pinot Noir, and as its process takes much love and care, only a small amount is produced.
December 2024 Holiday Letter
December marks a season of quiet reflection and a deliberate, slower pace in the winery. With the bustling energy of harvest behind us, this is a time to focus on nurturing our wines as they transition through critical phases of development.

Our red wines are aging gracefully in French oak barrels. The oak enhances the depth and complexity of the wine, contributing notes of vanilla, spice, and toast that harmonize with the vibrant fruit character from the vineyard. Regular tasting and evaluation guide decisions on aging time and integration, helping us craft wines that are both expressive and balanced.
For our Chardonnay, we employ a unique process to capture its rich, layered personality. Stainless steel barrels, paired with oak staves, provide the perfect environment for controlled aging. To enhance mouthfeel and complexity, we periodically stir the wine on its lees—a process called bâtonnage. This technique introduces creamy, nutty flavors and a silky texture, resulting in a Chardonnay that is both vibrant and sophisticated.
December’s slower rhythm offers an opportunity to reflect on the artistry behind each bottle while preparing for the excitement of sharing these wines with you in the coming year.
Happy Holidays from

On the palate, our Chardonnay displays a harmonious blend of asian pair, orange blossom and hints of starfruit, finishing with a hint of pie crust.

Smooth like black velvet with a touch of aprium, blackberry, and violet. Finishes strong but clean with black current, cassis, and subtle licorice.
