Truckee River Winery was established in 1989, born from a passion for crafting exceptional wines and the love of skiing and snow in the vibrant landscape of Sierra Nevada mountains.

Nestled alongside the picturesque Truckee River, the winery emerged as a bold venture to combine time-honored winemaking techniques with the unique climate of the Tahoe basin. Our founders sought to create a destination that embodies the spirit of adventure and the unparalleled beauty of the region, forging a path that celebrates both the artistry of fine winemaking and the rugged elegance of the surrounding wilderness.

174 Winery is the next chapter in our winemaking journey, born from a passion to plant our own roots and craft exceptional Sierra Foothills wines in the rolling hills of Cedar Ridge.

Needing more production space and inspired to expand into growing our own fruit, our family purchased an eight-stall horse property just minutes outside Grass Valley, transforming the barn into a showcase production facility. In 2022, we harvested and crushed our first grapes on-site, focusing on the remarkable fruit and distinct character of the Sierra Foothills. Where horses once galloped, a vibrant vineyard now flourishes—benefiting from warm foothill days and cool mountain breezes that allow us to craft bold, layered blends true to our adventurous spirit.

Today, that journey comes fully to life at the 174 Winery Tasting Room in Cedar Ridge, now open to the public. Located just down the road from our working cellars and farm, our indoor tasting room and shaded garden patio invite you to linger over curated wine flights, artisan nibbles, and relaxed conversation. Join us as we write this next chapter—where every bottle captures the spirit of the vineyard, the passion of our family, and the bold allure of the foothills.

Kick off the holiday season with 174 Winery! Before downtown Grass Valley illuminates the town Christmas tree at 6:30 PM, join us at our new 174 Tasting Room (just a short 5-minute drive from downtown) for cozy pours, festive bites, and good cheer.

We’re transforming the tasting room into a relaxed holiday happy hour—the ultimate warm-up to your downtown Saturday evening. Club members can pick up their November wine allocations, taste through fresh seasonal releases, and graze on holiday appetizers in a warm, festive setting.

The Highlights:

Pre-Lighting Holiday Happy Hour: Savor seasonal small bites and autumn pours in a cozy atmosphere before taking the quick drive into town for the 6:30 PM downtown tree lighting.
November Allocation Pickup: Club members can unbox their latest releases, pick up their club packs, and chat with the winemaking team about holiday dinner pairings.
The Bottle Perk: For tasting ticket holders, your $15 tasting fee is credited toward any bottle purchase—perfect for stocking your Thanksgiving table and checking off your holiday gift list!
