in Cedar Ridge celebrates summer with the opening of its dog-friendly patio.
CEDAR RIDGE, Calif. – June 22, 2026 – Following its highly anticipated grand opening in late February, the new 174 Winery Tasting Room is officially kicking off summer by opening its shaded, dog-friendly patio. Located right on Highway 174 next to the Cedar Ridge Salon, this cute, intimate space invites locals and visitors to enjoy premium, Nevada County-grown and produced wines in an idyllic Sierra Foothills setting. Open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the tasting room offers a calm, quiet atmosphere with a distinctly chill vibe and the convenience of free parking. Guests can explore the diverse terroir of the region through three curated tasting flights, or enjoy their favorites by the glass, bottle, or carafe (served fresh on tap).
To complement the wine, 174 Winery offers an array of fun, ready-to-eat picnic items for purchase, including artisanal cheese and meat bento boxes and savory snacks. Guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic fare to enjoy on the serene outdoor patio alongside their four-legged friends. 174 Winery is the latest chapter for the Jones Family, who have been pioneers of high-altitude viticulture for over three decades. What began in 1989 as Truckee River Winery—born from a love of skiing and a bold vision to create the "Highest, Coldest, and Snowiest" winery in the Tahoe basin—has since evolved into Truckee Family Wines.
Needing more space and wanting to expand into growing their own grapes, the family recently purchased an amazing horse property in Cedar Ridge to serve as their showcase production facility. There, they transformed an eight-stall horse barn into a state-of-the-art winemaking space, harvesting and crushing their first Sierra Foothills grapes on-site in 2022.
"We transformed the essence of this land—where horses once galloped—into a vibrant vineyard," the Jones Family shared. "It’s not just about production; it’s about creating an experience and a taste of the adventure that defines us."
